THE TASK
My challenge this week is to use the lessons learned from my lecture on Colour Theory and Shape Language to create assets that would be suitable for a “Space Invaders” style game.

MY IDEAS/INSPIRATION
For this task I chose to go with a Japanese Mythology theme. The game I made is called Kasa-Obake which is the yellow creature you can see. This creature comes from Japanese Mythology, although it is known to be a friendly creature I really liked the evil sort of preying look it has and thought it would make a suitable enemy. For the player I chose to make him a ninja with it having the Japanese theme with the obvious choice for weapon being a Kunai.
TECHNIQUES
For this weeks task I once again found it easier to opt for the Pen tool within Photoshop. Using this tool I was able to make nice clean lines making it easier to see within the game itself and just as artwork. For the enemy character I used the lasso tool to cut out the bottoms of a triangle to make a jagged edge to give it a nice look. Using a soft brush with the right colour and opacity I was able to add nice highlights into certain areas to give it a nice look with the shadows in there as well.
SUMMARY
I was overall very happy with the outcome and how functionable they were in the game. In future knowing more about shading and highlights I could’ve implemented more detail and been more precise with my work. With more time spent on Photoshop I would like to be able to sketch my work first but it’s a bit difficult with the mouse.
