THE TASK
For the first week:
My challenge this week is to either:
1. Create a character concept using Photoshop
2. Create an Environment concept using Photoshop
For this I week I chose to design my own character in Photoshop. This was the first time I have ever used Photoshop and its nothing but a huge learning curve but it has all the tools needed to create professional work.

MY IDEAS/INSPIRATION
For this particular character I found it quite difficult at first trying to figure out what to do. With being a Sci-Fi fan (Star Wars mainly) I took some idea to create a sort of Sith Lord crossed with medieval warrior feel. Taking a lot of medieval inspiration with the clothing but added with a outer world twist! I think moving on I would replace the sword with an original weapon more fitting to a space theme. I chose mainly the colour red to symbolise maybe a hint of evil with the bright blueish glow symbolising maybe a godly, out of world power!
TECHNIQUES
With it being my first time using Photoshop I didn’t really know where to start but after some playing about I found myself creating the best lines with the ‘Pen’ tool. As I didn’t have a drawing pad this made it the easiest way for me however it did have it’s complications as well. Without knowing many of the tools I found my best technique for the shading and textures was using a soft brush on a low opacity and work in small sections. Knowing what I know now this could of turned a few days work into a few hours maybe!
SUMMARY
As I’ve mentioned knowing what I know through trial and error it could’ve potentially saved me a lot of time. But that being said, it’s through those mistakes that I have always been learning throughout every stage at a high level. I really enjoyed putting my imagination to the test in this one seeing what thought were the first to come to mind.
